Can you please comment how long you guys with PPI and any side effect you experiencing?

Got sore throat (no other acid symptoms at all) so started PPI for a month, now sore throat healed but can not stop taking PPI. Tried to avoid it for couple of days but stomach and chest burning really bad. Thinking of continuing PPI from tomorrow morning again.

Can you please comment how long you guys with PPI and any side effect you experiencing ?

You generally can't stop taking PPI's cold turkey. The acid rebound is awful. You might need to wean off it slowly and supplement with an H2 blocker like Ranitidine.

I've only been on for a year and a half. Prilosec have me severe itching all over, with nexium my limbs were falling asleep so often and so severely I couldn't sleep at night. Prevacid made my limbs feel like lighting struck them and some numbness. Currently on protonix which I feel is effecting my memory 😒 going to talk to my doctor about switching to another one.

I’ve been on Nexium for 6 years. I started at 40mg twice a day because I have a hiatal hernia. I also was taking a zantac when I started. Over the 6 years, I’ve weened down to 20mg once a day (sometimes twice a day depending on the meal). No side effects noticed. I’m 27 now, and I plan to take it for many many more years.
