'Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach. Many people, including pregnant women, suffer from heartburn or acid indigestion caused by GERD

My doctor told me that I showed no signs of reflux in my throat but had a lot of post nasal drip from allergies

I went and saw an ent today. I got a scope put down my nose into my throat. My doctor told me that I showed no signs of reflux in my throat but had a lot of post nasal drip from allergies. She said I was misdiagnosed with gerd and what she suggested was a nasal rinse everyday followed by two sprays of Flonase in each nostril once a day. I’ve been struggling with problems swallowing for almost a year, a Globus sensation and a sore throat or tickle in my throat. It was so relieving to have someone say “your throat looks healthy” and to get some answers.

Liz CW that's fab.
congratulations! why did the Dr do the scope via nose than throat?

Tracy Tidmore
She went through my nasal passage and then down my throat. I guess so she could see everything.

Liz CW oooooh
that would have made me sneeze!

Tracy Tidmore
She sprayed me with this stuff to make me numb first

Tracy Tidmore
And thank you! It only took a few minutes and was only mildly uncomfortable.

Lisa Wise
I've had that done. He numbed it first... made it less uncomfortable.

Tracy Tidmore
Me too but it was still weird lol

Lisa Wise
Yes. I was glad when he was done!

Tracy Tidmore
Just the lump, all of my symptoms were always in my throat. That’s why I thought it might not have been gerd.

Dutch Gerasimatos
Who diagnosed you with gerd and how?

Tracy Tidmore
My primary doctor. She put me on omeprazole but it didn’t help at all so I went to another doctor and he referred me to an ent.
