'Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach. Many people, including pregnant women, suffer from heartburn or acid indigestion caused by GERD

I also have a hiatus hernia and Im not sure if its the GERD or hernia that is now playing up

Does anyone else find that if they eat something that sets off an acid reflux event it can then last for days no matter what you eat, I also have a hiatus hernia and Im not sure if its the GERD or hernia that is now playing up. I also get skipped heart beats, bloating, gas and pains in my back and shoulders along with the burning and acid regurgitation :(, do others also get these.

Just been diagnosed with a hiatus hernia any tips?

Kym Saillard
Try not to exercise or bend too much especially after food, my main symptoms are pain in the chest, back and shoulders when it is playing up, when its not playing up I can eat most foods. I have trouble knowing if its the hernia or GERD that gives me the most problems or if they coincide, they also cause me anxiety which I dont think helps either. :(

Ross Kym Saillard thank you that’s helps a lot. Are you in any medication?

Kym Saillard
I use to be on Nexium but have been without medication for about 3 or 4 years now, most of the time I can control it with diet but occasionally I slip up like I did Sunday night and then pay for it for a few days after.

Related Post: I recently had a consultation with a Nutritionist and this is what he told me regarding this awful reflux.

Also eating smaller meals and not overloading your stomach too much can help.
