same here, now taking ranitidine 40mg twice a day, it works (i was on omeprazole for 7 years before).

Kira Davis
Any success? Currently on Zantac but thinking I need something stronger. Not pregnant yet but hoping within the next couple months.

I was told best not to be on PPI's when pregnant so far the weaning process has been horrible nausea I think it's finally settling now though I'm also TTC.

Kira Davis
Are you on an H2 blocker instead then? I was told there are some "possible unknown risks" taking PPIs during pregnancy. My gastro doctor is still ok with me taking them if I want. So far I'm doing all I can to avoid, just in case.

Whitney Ballinger
Ranitidine I'm taking instead I thinks that is a h2 blocker, yeah my gastro dr said it's a matter of risk outweighing need so if I need it then I have to take them but at the moment I'm trying my best to take at least h2 till second tri where it's a lot safer can take ppi during breastfeeding either.

Kira Davis
So ppi are safer after first tri? How much randitidine do you take a day? I'm currently on 150mg.

Whitney Ballinger
Yes most of the critical development is completed after first trimester I take 150 in morning and 150 at night.

Related Post: Just found out I'm pregnant. How will my GERD affect me during this time?

Kira Davis
How far along are you? I think I'm going to increase to 150mg in morning and 150mg at night also (doctor ok'd it). I hate needing to take anything in pregnancy but is reassuring to know others do as well :).

Whitney Ballinger
I'm not yet hopefully soon should be able to test this week.

Kira Davis
Awesome!! I'm hoping to test in about 2 weeks ;).

Whitney Ballinger
It's such a long 2 weeks hey.

Whitney Ballinger
Yay got my positive had blood test today, hope you get a positive soon.

Whitney Ballinger
Great apart from nausea, I'm 10w now, reflux going ok surprisingly I had 1 or 2 rinatidine tabs a day yesterday I had none cause I threw them up

Have you talked to your OB? I'm an OB RN. Your heartburn is going to be much worse toward the end of your pregnancy, so you might need help now. One thing we often recommend is "Tummy Tea" or "heartburn tea".You can find it in the herbal tea section. They make it especially for pregnant women. Many women swear by it.

Whitney Ballinger
I haven't seen anyone as fa as I know in the public hospital here I might not be seen by an ob or midwife till 32 weeks, not much can be done I've had all the tests and stuff for reflux before I was pregnant I'll survive
