I took Protonix. I was afraid that a PPI would be bad for a pregnancy but my OB said it was fine and that he prescribed it for women that had severe reflux unrelieved by anything else. My baby was born healthy.

I am taking ppi too, and a bit anxious if it would affect my baby. I am only on my first trimester and so aware that morning sickness and heartburn will give me terrible problem...

Did you take it everyday all through out your pregnancy?

Jennifer Price Oakley
Godelyn Sadiua Ricana yes! I had been on it for several years prior to getting pregnant and had great success with it controlling my GERD. Then when I got pregnant I stopped it until I could see my OB for first visit. The rebound was aweful. So when I saw my OB I asked about reflux meds and said I had been on Protonix, he said it was perfectly fine to continue it, I got back on it right away and took every day for entire pregnancy and throughout breastfeeding. My baby didn’t have any problems at all.
