'Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach. Many people, including pregnant women, suffer from heartburn or acid indigestion caused by GERD

Jeanette Moroney
Yeah I have all of them except my appetite is ok I also have ibs c mainly.

June June
I kept asking others but still have no idea. How to know I have ibs.

Jeanette Moroney
I was diagnosed by my gp 22 yes ago I suffer cramps sluggish bowels sometimes not very often diarrhea but terrible sore abdomen one minute left side is sore then it moves to right sometimes all over terrible gassy sensation as well now I did have colonoscopy to rule out anything else and when reflux is bad my it's is worse anything wrong with digestive system causes so many problems.

Lauren Hansen
Yes Hun me too 😟 what a load of crap it is too.

Joe Bradley
Yes I get all those symptoms and more, except I don't usually get acid reflux and I'm always HUNGRY!!

Sharnell Davina Myers
I get every one apart from the last one. I was vomiting stomach acid and food at 4:30 this morning. I'm on anti-emetics which have worked wonderfully up until last week. I'm so sick of it and only eating one meal a day in the hope it will stop. I have an Endoscopy on Monday 5th August.

Eliminate inflammatory foods like wheat, grains, caffiene and dairy for few months until u feel better.

Mary Glavin
Yes I have them too. Have you been diagnosed, are you in an medication or following an acid free diet?

Jemma Louise Massey
Hi everyone thanks for all the replies, I guess I don't always get the loss of appetite but I just always feel too bloated to eat. I don't eat wheat or gluten because I'm Coeliac, I stay away from caffeine anyway.. and I take 10mg omeprazole a day at the minute as I was trying to come off them as they make me feel way worse! I'm having a camera down on Saturday but not sure how I'm going to get my head around having it done, I'm so scared!

Christine Ruby
I sometimes feel too bloated to eat but I am always hungry! I take betaine HCL, I find it helps digest my food better. When I don't take it my heartburn is rediculous, I belch a lot and my stomach gurgles.

Mary Glavin
Honestly don't worry about having the camera down its a really easy process and nothing to worry about. Ask for sedation if you can and you'll go to sleep and not feel anything. You are in a very low dose of omeprazole, it will be best when you have the test and know what you are dealing with.

Joe Bradley
I think she is scared of what they might find.

Mary Glavin
Oh well I would definitely try not to be to scared. Look at on a positive way , when you find out what is wrong you will be able to treat it. I have all the symptoms that you listed and was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia and gastritis. Good luck with it.

Jemma Louise Massey
I'm scared mainly about the procedure but I am also scared of what they will find! Thanks for your replies!

Mary Glavin Honestly
the procedure is very easy. Try not to worry too much. You will find out soon and that will point you in the right direction to starting to heal.

Andrea Bodo
I am better eatinbg smaller amounts, sleeping on a wedge, taking Domperidone 3 times /day.

Sharnell Davina Myers
I'm on Domperidone too! It's stopped working for me now though 😥.

Andrea Bodo
Sharnell Davina Myers how long have you been on it, and at what dose?

Miriam Mustafa-Ragoobir
I was also taking domperidone and after some months it just stopped working for me also.

Sharnell Davina Myers
Andrea, I'm on 10mg, been on it about a month now. I take it about 15 mins before I eat anything. Going back to my GP for something else soon.

June June
I have uncomfortable bloated stomach these 2 to 3 weeks. At least u don't have nightmarish bad breath which too me is the worst socially.

Sharnell Davina Myers
Michelle Rain, try CB12, it gets rid of my bad breath. It's brilliant.

June June
huh? mouthwash? it won't work for gerd breath right? bad breath not due to gerd or illness maybe. is your bad breath form gerd?

Sharnell Davina Myers
Yes mine is Michelle Rain. I use it most days. You can lick your wrist and smell it afterwards, works a treat for me.

June June
Sharnell Davina Myers huh? it is just a mint mouthwash right? i couldnt get that.

Sharnell Davina Myers
No it's not a mint mouthwash. It pulls everything out of your mouth. If you don't want to try it fine, I was only trying to help.

June June
I m just trying to confirm. I m tired of trying a dozen stuffs which don't work at all. It eliminates your gerd bad breath. My gerd bad breath is very awful - ppl 2 feet away couldn't stand it. Ppl talking to me are tortured.

Jemma Louise Massey
Do any of you get pain by your appendix too, like lower right side between hip and belly button? Wondering if it's linked or if it's separate and I should be worried about my appendix.

Mary Glavin
Jemma Louise Massey yes I do. I get a stabbing pain and sometimes burning. I don't have an appendix but it was diagnosed as ibs as I had a colonoscopy. All these digestive issues are linked and many people have ibs as well as reflux etc.

Jemma Louise Massey
Thank you so much for that reply! I constantly get the pain, sometimes it does feel like gas and I'm convinced sometimes it could move if I get it to somehow.. but because it's mostly there same place and not so much anywhere else on my stomach it really starts to worry me..sometimes it can be quite sharp too.

Mary Glavin
Yes definitely sounds like it. I would speak with your doctor and ask about the colonoscopy. Also ppis tend to aggravate ibs as they reduce the acid in your stomach which makes it more difficult to digest your food. I would advise you to take a multivitamin, a digestive enzyme to counter act the ppi removing the acid and stopping you digesting your foods and also a probiotic which will put good bacteria back in to you and help with ibs.

Erik Lund
Which digestive enzymes do you use Mary?

Miriam Mustafa-Ragoobir
The ppis gave me reflux I also have ibs for years now.

Erik Lund
Its all in the diet seek out a sensitivity test or strict elimination diet to determine problem foods. Also consider it can be a result of low stomach acid.

Erik Lund
Avoid dairy gluten wheat eggs soy gmo preservatives corn as these make up 90% of the culprits in sensitivities don't eat anything with acid in the ingredients list. Attached you'll find high acidic foods to avoid in the red. Stick to green as much as possible. Manage stress by meditation yoga exercise east smaller meals elevate head of bed 6in by wedge pillow or blocks under bed.
Acid reflux symptoms every day: Food regurgitation sometimes hours after eating

Andrea Bodo
I used to have same symptoms but have learned to manage my reflux and have been symptom free for a few months now. On Ranitidine 300 twice/day, Domperidone and restricted diet.

Erik Lund
Please share some other tactics you have used

Andrea Bodo
Erik Lund no chocolate, onions, garlic, peppermint, tomatoes, acidic, spicy food..... Sleep on a wedge at night. Nothing to eat after dinner. I had alot of reflux and food regurg but once I stopped eating after 6p....and went to bed at 10p more or less at a 45 degree angle, that stopped. I use Gaviscon if I have any indigestion.

Erik Lund
Doing all that and still battling think mine is autoimmune or sibo.

Andrea Bodo
Erik Lund I have delayed gastric emptying and Domperidone is my salvation.

Erik Lund
How did you gauge gastric emptying?

Andrea Bodo
Erik Lund I have been very fortunate to be followed by one of the top GERD specialists...and every time he examined me, I had a succussion splash (stomach contents at 3 hours)... He said he was 100% positive I have DGE and am on 5 medications that contribute to it. He said he was not going to order a GES because he would only be 200% positive. He tried me on erytho, reglan both of which i could not tolerate and then started me on Domperidone. He said my GERD was being caused by my DGE and the Domperidone is a prokinetic that speeds up stomach emptying. I am so much better.

Becky Marsden

Erik Lund
Why stop eating oatmeal? Its one of the most acid reducing foods out there. Unfortunately mine is most likely autoimmune or bacterial related. Great it works for you but no one protocol is the same unfortunately.

Brandy Pauline
I totally agree with you Erik somebody suggested that to me and it really helped they thought mine was bacterial related but a biopsy prove that wrong don't give up man and try Blackseed oil.

Erik Lund
There are many bacterial possibilities sibo and other fungus that cannot be ruled out by biposy which is only ruling out hpylori.\]

June June
BrandyPauline why no oatmeal? I find I would often have a taste in my mouth after eating that.

Brandy Pauline
I think it actually makes it worse try it out for yourself see if it helps I ate oatmeal every morning for the last five years until I got sick I stopped eating that started eating boiled eggs made a big difference

Amy Kowalewski
Have you had your gallbladder checked?

Abby Obenchain
ANyone with lots of gas and bloating should check out the low-FODMAP diet. It's really helped me!

Amy Kowalewski
Where do I find FODMAP diet info?

Abby Obenchain
The Monash University site/app is very helpful. They are the worldwide leading experts. Also try the blog a Little Bit Yummy

Mary Glavin
They have a Facebook page. Monash FODMAPS. They also have an apps which tells you which foods you should be eating and avoiding. They have a great video on you tube. The Monash University in Melbourne have developed the diet so it's best to follow them as there is alot of mixed information on other sites. It is a very complex diet and is not a long term diet, it is a form of am elimination diet. It is primarily for IBS so if you do following you will have to remove the acidic foods as it allows spicy, caffine, tomatoes, mint, carbonated drinks to name a few. I have a hernia and ibs so I follow a variety of both.
